Slim shady is back with a full “Recovery.” The buzz for the “Recovery Album seemed to be overshadowed by the Drake Release, Miley Cyrus, Perez Hilton No Panties Drama, Gary Coleman’s death, the Gulf Coast oil Spill and Lady GaGa’s antics, all those factors believe it or not effect the general public consumer focus. The News Media outlets and Internet buzz informs the general public of what they should be checking for and talking about. Since Em hasn’t slapped or pistol whipped anybody. He hasn’t threatened his EX wife or made a sex tape or any of the controversial things that kept him in the news feeds. The buzz has been pretty calm over all.
His marketing team has come up with a cool Viral Video marketing Campaign that has been getting “Just In Time Buzz” on the net. The video features the ShamwoW infomercial master Vince Shlomi, to promote his new album Recovery. The Video shows demonstrating the various uses for the disc, including chopping onions, smashing tomatoes, slicing cheese and serving as a drink coaster.
This is a great campaign that makes sense. It totally fits Eminem’s zany attitude and off beat humor. This video will totally connect with Em’s fans, It doesn’t push the music it reinforces the Eminem Brand and attitude. Nice Job! (No info on who or which agency came up with it)
According to industry trade publication Hits Daily Double, Recovery could sell between 560 – 600K, giving Eminem the top opening week sales of 2010. Sade’s Soldier of is currently #1 with 502,000 sold while Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now comes in #2 with 481,000 and Thank Me Later in #3.
