Brooklyn Bodega, the company that created and produced the world famed Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival announced today that Fresh Daily will be the first Artist/Brand signed to their newly launched Brooklyn Bodega Brand Management Agency. Brooklyn Bodega will work with Fresh Daily by helping develop and strengthen his human brand with a mix of new media, grassroots marketing and consulting.
Artist , Labels, managers, and brands wanting to get on “What’s Next” need to pay attention. The traditional business model of “the record label is god” is dead. This type of 360 branding deal is similar to the deal Madonna did with Live Nation. Although this Brooklyn Bodega, Fresh Daily deal is on a smaller level, it is a clear picture of where artist development and branding strategies will be going in the near future.
Brooklyn Bodega’s Jackson added, “This is a new type of deal for a new era in business. We are working with Fresh Daily, the brand, not just Fresh Daily the artist. Artists can no longer base their income on the sale of recorded music. Same with Verizon or Apple, today’s artist has to diversify and expand their revenue streams. Recorded music, touring, publishing, merchandising, licensing – these are the ways today’s artist will survive. Record deals are no longer the end game. They are an interchangeable part of a larger plan. Fresh Daily gets it and we are about to change the rules to ‘this thing of ours’.”
